Athlete Wellbeing

Archery Australia believes in taking a holistic approach to wellbeing, recognising its potential to enhance athlete performance.

We aim to develop well-rounded individuals who can thrive both inside and outside of sport. Archery Australia supports and encourages athletes to strive for excellence in sport, while maintaining balance to their life during and after their sporting careers.

Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement at AA:

Athlete wellbeing and engagement is embedded into our high-performance program. Areas of support available to our athletes include:

  • Wellness/Mental Health: Offering access to general wellbeing support, mental health resources and education, and the Mental health referral network for individualized psychology services.
  • Career and education: Offering access to information, advice and referrals to the career practitioner referral network who provide individualized face-to-face or online support relating to education, career mapping and work experience opportunities. 
  • Personal development: Offering support in professional development, wellbeing and personal growth opportunities.
  • Community engagement: Offering athletes opportunities to engage with their local community, grass roots sport and/or national charities.
  • Pinnacle event preparation: Offering support to athletes in preparation for pinnacle events, implementing strategies to support their wellbeing both before, during and post events.

Australian Institute of Sport Mental Health Referral Network (MHRN)

The AIS offers elite athletes in the HP program access to the MHRN, whose objective is to support and strengthen athlete mental health through individualized clinical care. The network consists of clinical psychologists who can provide evidence-informed treatment services for our athletes.

This service is available for all categorised athletes and is free for them to access.

Australian Institute of Sport Career Practitioner Referral Network (CPRN)

The AIS offers elite athletes in the HP program access to the CPRN, whose objective is to provide career guidance, planning, offer employment support and education advice to our athletes. The network is comprised of highly qualified career practitioners who service in all Australian States and territories, as well as those living internationally via online platforms. This service is available for all categorised athletes and is free for them to access.
