Anti-Doping

Archery Australia takes a position of zero tolerance toward doping in sport, and works closely with Sport Integrity Australia and the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) to ensure a fair and safe environment in archery, and all sports.

We strongly encourage athletes to ensure that they are acutely aware of the most recent banned lists both here in Australia and around the world.

To ensure that you are ‘in the know’ we recommend following the link to the Sport Integrity Australia website. Take a look around and familiarise yourself with the website and be sure to maintain ample knowledge about your responsibility in ensuring a drug-free competition environment. You can also complete courses and regular updates via the website.

Archery Australia adopts the SIA anti-doping policy is the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy, effective 1 January 2021. All members, participants and non-participants in the sport of Archery are bound by these rules.

For further information or clarification on anti-doping issues, medications or supplements, the prohibited list and Pure Performance education, all enquiries should be made to Sport Integrity Australia.

WADA is an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport. WADA’s primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries.

WADA maintains the  World Anti-Doping Code(Code) and  Prohibited List. Visit the WADA website for further information and regular updates.

The Sport Integrity Australia app is a free one-stop shop for all sport integrity needs, designed with athletes in mind. The app allows users to check whether their medications are banned in sport, find low risk supplements and check whether they need a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

The app is free and can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores.  

The app also provides direction on how to raise concerns about things like doping, child safeguarding or discrimination. It features further information on eLearning modules, whereabouts and testing information and gives users the opportunity to provide feedback to Sport Integrity Australia.

The Prohibited List outlines the substances and methods that are prohibited in sport. It is updated annually by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Remember that individual products or brands are not named on the Prohibited List. Athletes should check the status of all medications on Global DRO before they use them.  

Global DRO allows users to check whether the most commonly prescribed and over-the-counter medicines in Australia are permitted or prohibited in sport.  

Athletes who are part of the Registered Testing Pool and National Testing Pool need to tell SIA where they are going to be, at specific times, so it can perform no-advance notice testing.

Access the Therapeutic Use Exemptions  (TUE) page on the Sport Integrity Australia website. Here you will find all TUE requirements for athletes competing at a domestic level as administered by the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee (ASDMAC). 

The below are athletes needing to apply for an In-Advance TUE, this includes:

    • Athletes in the Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) or Archery Integrity Manager:
      • Registered Testing Pool (RTP)
      • SIA National Testing Pool (NTP)
      • SIA Domestic Testing Pool (DTP)
    • Athletes selected in all national teams competing nationally or an internation would cups, championships or Olympic and Paralympic Games teams require one – not including Youth Competitions.


Those athletes that don’t meet this criteria, you should prepare a medical file in case you need to apply for a planned Retroactive TUE if ever tested.

Archery Australia and Sport Integrity Australia have developed an education strategy. The main purpose of anti-doping education is to provide athletes, coaches and support personnel with an understanding of the accurate and current anti-doping requirements of the sport. The integrity education plans are found below:

This is mandatory for our target groups, including high performance athletes and coaches from junior to senior level as well as team management, support personnel and administration.
